Yeah, those Yamahas sure suck all right.
Like the time that the circlip fell out of the piston in Kurtis's Yamaha.
Oh wait. That was a Kawasaki.
OK, like the time when Al's Yamaha seized when Glen was riding it. Oh
wait. That was a Kawasaki, too.
Then there was the time when the kickstart lever broke clean off Cherry's
Yamaha. Oh wait. That was a Honda XR250.
Now, I'll admit that it is impossible to get the right parts for Yamahas.
Like when Al needed a piston ring, and went through hell trying to get one
that fit. Oh wait. That was a Honda XR.
But those Yamahas aren't very tough. Like when Kurtis cased his Yamaha and
all the oil leaked out. Oh wait. That was his old Honda XL.
OK Ok, how about the time that Bob came back to camp because the exhaust
pipe fell off his Yamaha? Hang on, that was an XR come to think of it.
Anyway, they sure are junk.

Hey, I didn't come back to camp because my pipe fell off. I came back
because I was tired of riding and because those nuns gave me dirty looks,
and maybe we ran over Bambi, I forget.
OK, OK, how about the time I was towed back to camp because my Yamaha pipe
self-destructed on a rock. I wasn't even on the bike at the time... Hang
on, that was a Kawasaki.
OK, OK, how about the time Glen broke his ribs because his Yamaha slipped
on a bloody mary? Hang on, that was a Kawasaki too.

OH YEAH - WELL

Kurt parked his bike next to the TT and it got sick.

Glen owned a Yamaha and that's all she wrote.

Cherry was a maintenance gomer and he should have bought a Yamaha.

That is in fact true - but when I called Yamaha and asked for rings
for a TT they told me to just use a coat hanger.

Kurt parked it next to Eddy's YZ which never worked and Kurt just
felt sorry for him.

Bob did have a run of bad gas and I just can't explain that one - in
fact the best part if I'm remembering correctly (which I'll admit
is unlikely) is that Bob bought a new silencer and it fell off too.
Still we agree - Yamaha's suck.
cheers,

So what is the maintainence schedule for those Honda kickstart levers?
Does Honda have a little chart for that? If not, here are some handy
entries that you could cut and paste into your Honda Owner's manual:
Maintenance Schedule:
Kickstart Lever: Inspect every 100 miles. If missing, replace.
Trouble Shooting Chart:
Symptom: Bike won't start.
Solution: Kickstart lever missing.
See Maintenance schedule, "Kickstart Lever"
